Smith, teacher of Agricul ture in the Warsaw City schools, spent last week-end at home, leaving Monday for Raleigh, where he will at tend summer school at State College. Mrs. Robert Taylor, of Newton, is the guest of her mother, Mrs. J .S. Lancaster, at Hot^l Vass. Mrs. Mamie Dixon, of Raleigh, is spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Tyson. Mrs. M. D McDonald, of Hamlet, came Tuesday, to spend some time with her sisters, Mrs. W. J. Cameron and Mrs. J. R. Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Cannon, of Win- ston-Salem, visited Miss Jewell Ed wards, Tuesday. Mrs. Cannon was formerly Misis Carrie Norma^’ Jbf Cameron. Prof. W. D. Matthews, who is at tending summer school at Wake For est, spent last week-end with Mrs. Matthews and the children. Mrs. L. L. Wooley and baby, L. L. Jr., of Southern Pines, were shopping here, Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. David M. Pearsall, of Dunn, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Smith and Miss Mary Davis Westcott Misses Eva Oldham and Bessie Gunter returned last week from Dav idson College, where they attended the Presbyterian Young People’s Con vention, as delegates from the local Christian Endeavor Society. At the Sunday evening service they gave in teresting reports of their stay in Davidson. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Cameron and children, Marian and A. Mac. spent Sunday with relatives in Buie’s Creek. They were accompanied home by Mrs. L. McKay, who will spend several days with them. Mr. and Mrs. N. N. McLean and baby, Mrs. D. C McGill, and Miss Agnes Smith, were Sanford visitors Tuesday D. A. Graham and little daughter, Dorothy May, of Ruffin, S. C. visited relatives in Vass and community the first of the week. Mrs. E. M. Borst, Miss Annie Borst and Miss Helen Parker, of Cameron, E. M. Borst and Mason Borst, of Wil mington, visited Mr. and Mrs. H. A| Borst, Saturday. Mrs. Paul Joyner, of Fayetteville, and Mrs. Alfred Graham and child ren, of Cameron, were calling on friends in town, an afternoon last week. Richard Griffin, who has been work ing in Andrews, S. C., for some time, is visiting his mot!«r, Mrs, G. W. Griffin. Miss Eula Hamilton, of Dunn, is visiting her grandfather, Duncan Mc- Raney. Mrs. D. B. Cameron, of Durham, is spending a few days with relatives in and near Vass. Friends of J. R. Thomas will be glad to know that he was able to re turn to Raleigh the first of the week, after an illness of several weeks. Rev. and Mrs. D. McD. Monroe and children, Mrs. N. N. McLean and lit tle son, James Ray, and Miss Agnes Smith went to Fayetteville, Thurs day. Mr. and Mrs. George Stewart, of Cameron route, visited Mrs. Ibbie Mc Neill Saturday. Mrs. McNeill has ' Lee Fore Qing from Chile, is spend ing a week with Misses Vera and Nel lie Muse at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Muse. Mrs. Leslie Hostess to Circle Two Mrs. W. C. Leslie was hostess to Circle Two of the Methodist Auxil iary on Tuesday evening of this week, at which time a most delightful meet ing was held. The Scripture lesson was read by Mrs. W. J. Cameron and the business session presided over by the Circle Chairman, Mrs. Leslie. The social hour which followed was filled with stunts of various kinds and a leaf contest, and the winners, Mes- dames. Alex Smith, W. J. Cameron, . L. Tyson and C. J, Temple, were given appropriate and attractive prizes. Refreshments of punch, fruit salad and cake were served by Miss Louise and Marjorie Leslie and Katherine Graham. The Circle was delighted to have two visitors present, Mrs. D. B. Cameron, of Durham, and Mrs. M. D. McDonald, of Hamlet. The July meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. A. K. Thompson. A Trip To Baden On Thursday, June 10, class num- THE PILOT ber five of the Methodist Sunday school, with several invited guests, chaperoned by their teacher, Marvin Davis, enjoyed a very interesting trip to Baden, a beautiful little town. Upon arriving at Baden, they were joined by Mr. Davis* brother, wife and children. Mr. Davis is connected with the “Wearer*' Aluminum plant, one of the largest in the United States. After lunch, the evening was spent in visiting points of interests, among which was the big dam of the Talla hassee Power plant, which is 250 feet high. Then a trip through the Alum inum plant which was very instruc tive. Those who enjoyed the trip and most bountiful dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Davis, Misses Elizabeth and Madeline Simpson, Louise Les lie and Katharine Graham, Earl Ed wards, J. R. Thomas, Jr., Wesley Thompson, Warren Cox, Gerald and Albert Graham. Page Eleven Circle No. 1, of the Methodist Aux iliary met on Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock with Mrs. A. G. Edwards at her home. In the absence of the pres ident, the devotional services were led by Mrs. G. H. Simpson. After the business of the meeting was finish ed, Mrs. Edwards was assisted by Miss Jewell Edwards in giving a most de^ lightful social hour, during which a very clever, original contest was an interesting feature.
