N. C Two THE PILOT September 3, 1926. CAMERON Mr. and Mrs. D. H. McNeill, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. McNeill and their bright and attractive children, of Vass, were in town last week, to see Mrs. Julia McDugald before her de parture for Florida. Mrs. W. M. Wooten and sons, Rob ert and Kenneth, spent Friday in Fay etteville, with Mrs. Wooten's daughter Mrs. P. W. Joyner. Little Jeanette, who had been on a visit to her sister, returned with them home. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. McLean and niece, Margaret, spent Sunday in Louisburg. Mrs. McLean and Mar garet remained for a week’s visit, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Smithwick. Cameron people will re- mmeber Mrs. Smitmwich, as Miss Dorothy Johnson. Ernest Pierce, of Charlotte, came over last week for a visit to his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Pierce, Sr., of Borderlee. D. J. Pierce, Sr., re turned with his son, Ernest, and spent several days in Charlotte. Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Knight and children, of Dillon, S. C., were guests this week of Mr. and Mrs. D. W, Mc Neill. Mrs. Joe Thompson and little daughter, Mary Glenn, of Raleigh, spent Sunday with Miss Annie Hart- sell. Mr. and Mrs. T. C. McLaurin, have been recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Snipes. D. J. Pierce, Jr, came over from Charlotte Sunday, returning with Mrs. Pierce and the children, who have been on a visit to relatives in town and community. Mrs. R. C. Thomas returned this week, from a visit to relatives at Gresham and Polkton, S. C. A. B. McDonald, Cranes Creek, route 1, returned recently from a three week’s sojourn at Jackson Springs. Rev. and Mrs. J. W. Hartsell, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Hendricks, Roy Hen dricks, Misses Eva and Mary Hen dricks, Miss Vera McLean and L. F. Hartsell, spent the first part of the week at Lake Waccamaw. Henry Dowel Jones, eft Tuesday to enter school at Buie*& Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Thomasson, of Dur ham, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Thomasson. Mr. and Mrs. James Rogers and baby, Laura Grace, of Sanford, visit ed relatives here Sunday. Mrs. S. W. Robards and children are moving this week from the cot tage on Sunset Heights, to the cot tage owned by Mrs. Addie Graham, on McPherson street, down town. Miss Kate Arnold spent Sunday in Fayetteville. Mrs. D. J. Pierce and daughter, Miss Annie, of Borderlee; Mrs. J. A. Mc- McPherson and children, Hugh, Mary Davis and James and the correspond ent, rode out to Lakeview Sunday af ternoon for a Cool. Miss Jessie Allen, of St. Paul, who has been attending summer school at Chapel Hill, was the week-end guest of Miss Mary Emma Thomas and left this week for Buie’s Creek College, where she will be head of modern language department. Miss Mary Emma Thomas, Miss Jessie Allen, R. C. and I. S. Thomas, were guests of Miss Allen Sunday af ternoon, at her home in St. Paul. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Brewer and children, Miss Bessie Doss, returned Monday, after a visit to the family of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Doss. Mrs. W. G. Parker, Miss Vera Mc Lean, entertained the “Willing Hearts Society at the home of Mrs. Parker last week. The children played jolly games and were then served cake, lemonade and candy. Mrs. J. D. McLean was hostess to the Young Ladies Auxiliary an after noon of last week. Quite a num ber were present, and a very inter esting meeting was held, after which the hostess served chocolate layer cake with chocolate cream. Born to Mr. and Mrs. George Wooten, Monday, August 30th, 8:00 a. m., a daughter. “Baby boy or baby girl, welcome all the same.” Mrs. Mitchell Guthrie returned Sun day with Mr. Guthrie to Tabor, where she will keep his books, while the tobacco season lasts. Misses Loula and Lucile Rogers visited relatives in Fayetteville Sun day afternoon. Miss Mary Emma Thomas left Wednesday for Cullowhee, where she will be a member of the Cullowhee high school faculty. Mrs. T. C. McLaurin, of Durham, is spending the week with Mrs. H. M. Snipes. Mr. and Mrs. L. B. McKeithen, Miss Elizabeth Ray, Dr. and Mrs. A. L. O’Briant, spent Tuesday at Lake Waccamaw, fishing. Mr. and Mrs. M. McL. McKeithen, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. McKeithen and children spent Sunday in Aberdeen, visiting relatives. The families of Mrs. Janie Muse, Mrs. Lula Muse, D. W. McNeill and Miss Mary McNeill, of Lee-line, received a message Monday conveying the sad intelligence of the death of Miss Elizaebth McNeill, only daught er of Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. McNeill, of Florala, Ala., who died Monday, at 3 p. m. following an operation in a hospital. Miss McNeil was a beau tiful young woman, a lovely charac ter, refined and cultured, she had long held a position in the Bank of Florala. We extend our sincere sympathies to the bereaved family. Miss McNeill was a subscribed to The Pilot and prompt in her renewals. M. D. McLean, Miss Vera McLean, John B. Cameron, John Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. G. M. McDermott, and children, George, Margaret and Malcom attend ed the reunion at the home of Mr. D. P. Kelly, of Niagra, on Saturday, the occasion being in honor of Mr. Kelly’s 71st birthday. About 200 people were pesernt and all the children and grand children of Mr. Kelly5s. A long ta ble was filled with all the substantials and delicacies of the season, with lemonade and watermelons in abun dance. Mr. Kelly received many use ful presents. Congratulations and many happy returns from the corres pondent. Mrs. G. M. McDermott and children remained for a visit to Mrs. McDer mott’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. McCallum, of Eureka. Mrs. J. E. Phillips is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Spier, of Nor folk, Va. L. F. Hartsell, Miss Elizabeth Ray, Artemius Thomas, Miss Bess Cam eron went on an outing to Lake Wac camaw, last week. In Memoian, July 28, 1926, “Snooks,” the faithful, industrious and affectionate house cat of J. W. Cameron, passed away at the ripe cat age of sixteen years. He was tenderly cared for in his last illness and given a decent burial. Virginia, Johnsie and Opal Thagard, the little daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Cameron, were chief mourners and bedecked the grave with lovely flowers, from their flower garden. Snooks is dead! Long live Snooks, the second! A few more years of this fast rid ing and flying, the few people that are left, will produce a progeny that will be legess and perhaps sprouting wings. Mrs. W. L. Tyndal and children, of Kinston, are visiting Mrs. Tyndal’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hunter. Mrs. Janie Muse and son, W. A. Muse, attended services at Cypress Sunday. Frank C.
