Revival Begins Next Week A series of revival services will be held at the Vass Methodist Church, beginning on Tuesday evening of next week, October 26. The pastor, Rev. McRae, expects to have an evange- listiclistic singer-preacher to assist him during the meeting, and it is hoped that the people of the entire community will attend the services and help to make them a real season of revival. Thompson has been in Cameron for several days on account of the serious illness of her mother, Mrs. Gaddy. Mrs. W. P. Davis, of the Eureka community, spent Sunday with Mrs. W. H. Keith. The Mt Pleasant school in upper Hoke opened Monday, with Misses Nettie Gschwind and Lula Evans, of Vass, as teachers. Roland Craig came home from Chapel Hill for a week-end visit to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Craig. Prof. and Mrs. W. D. Matthews and children went to Sanford Sunday af ternoon to visit his mother, who is Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Smith spent, Sunday afternoon in Fayetteville with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Joyner. Miss Bessie Gunter came home from Farm Life School to spend the week end with homefolks. Claud Matthews, of Coal Glen, was a visitor heer, Saturday. Mrs. Bertie Matthews and Mrs. George Brooks visited Mrs. Mildred Matthews in Sanfodr, Sunday. Misses Rachel and Nannie Gilchrist, members of the Vass-Lakeview school faculty, have moved into one of the Beasley apartments. They have been driving down from theix home in Cameron. Horton Keith came home from Buie’s Creek for a week-end visit to his parents. He was accompanied by Marvin Woodard, who visited in Vass and Lakeview. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Thomas had as their Sunday guests Mr. and Mrs. Carter and Miss Thomas, of Jackson Springs.. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Norton, of near Raeford, spent Saturday night and Sunday with relatives on route two. On Sunday, their baby, Doris, was one of four baptized by the Rev. M. D. McNeill at Cypress. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cashion and lit tle daughter, Dorothy, returned Tues- High Point, who were called to San ford last week on account of the ill ness of his mother, visited Prof. and Mrs. W. D. Matthews, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. W Atkinson and Thomas Keith Atkinson, of Southern Pines, and Misses Sarah and Rebecca Patterson and Lucile Cameron, of ily, Sunday. Manley, visited W H. Miss Minerva Thompson, of Cam eron route one, was in town Monday^ visiting her nieces, Mrs. Brooks and Mrs. Bertie Matthews Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Cameron, Clyde Cox, Mrs. W. T. Cox and baby, Retha May, visited T R. Moffitt and family in Sanford, Sunday afternoon. J. M. and 0. T. Mills spent Sunday with relatives in Apex. The City Meat Market, in the Beas ley Building, is at your service. Under new management. Alex McGill, who is attending school near Maxton, spent last week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. McGill, of route two.. Mr. and Mrs. Marshal Thompson and baby, Mary Lewis, and W. A. Thompson, of near Maxton, spent the week-end with relatives in the com munity. The trip was made for the purpose of letting great-grandfather Isaac Thompson get acquainted with the newest member of the family, baby Mary. He must have been favor ably impressed, for he decided to re turn to Maxton with her. When the car passed through Vass Sunday, its load included four generations of Thompsons, ranging in age from nine ty-four years to two months. G. W. Griffin, of Hamlet,, spent Sunday at home. Miss Martha McKay, of Buie’s Creek, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. A. M. Cameron.. Circle Two Holds Final Meeting of Year Circle Two of the Methodist Aux iliary held its last meeting for the conference year on Tuesday evening, with Mrs. A. M. Cameron as hostess. As this was the time for the election of officers, the regular program was dispensed with. Mrs. C. J. Temple was elected to succeed Mrs. W. C. Leslie, as chairman, and Mrs. C. T^. Tyson was reelected secretary-treas- urer. The Circle has had a most successful year under the leadership of Mrs. Leslie, and while the members regret to see her go out of office, they feel that their new choice is a good one as Mrs. Temple has been unusual ly zealous in the missionary society work. The financial report for the year was made by the secretary-treas- urer, and several imi>ortant issues dis cussed. The social hour was one of the most enjoyable for the year. Mrs. Cameron was assisted in entertainmg by her sister. Miss Martha McKay, and the contests, some of which were of real educational value with enthu. siasm. Dainty prizes were given to the winners. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by her little daughter, Marian, who afterwards entertained the guests with several piano selections. The Circle was delighted to accept Mrs. . G. Poole's invitation to meet at her home in Lakeview in Novem ber.
