There will be preaching at the Vass Presbyterian church at 11:15 o’clock next Sunday morning, the fifth Sun day. J. H. Thomas Sails for Cuba. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Thomas received a card from their, son, Hampton, writ ten Sunday and mailed in New York saying that he was aboard the “Vol- endam,” ready to sail at midnight for Cuba. Mr. Thomas is a salesman for the National Cash Register Com pany, and each year the company gives a trip to their expert salesmen. This is the fourth trip he has won since he has been with this company.* He also won several trips while he was with the Burroughs Company. Attendance Pins, Wreaths and Bars Awarded. SHRINE BALL ON FEBRUARY ELEVENTH Ride for K per Mite Donald J. Ross, chairman of the Shrine club, announces that the fourth annual costume ball will bi given by the Sandhill Shrine club at the Pinehurst Country Club at Pine hurst, on the evening of Friday, Feb ruary 11. This is the benefit ball for the crippled children, and the reve nue will be used to carry on the work the Shriners have been doing for a number of years in the county. It is an event that is usually attended by a large number, many coming from a distance, and it is looked forward to with much interest as one of the big gatherings of the winter in the Sand hills.
