It is no secret that Knollwood did not
expect to see thing’s strike such a run
away gait as the ten months of action
there has developed. So the original plans
did not anticipate the big amount of work
that has had to be done. Right now a big
crew of hands is busy on improvement,
and it is apparent that this must continue
indefinitely, for no longer is there any
doubt that Knollwood is to forge ahead to
bounds that nobody can suspect.
The house building is fully as unprec-
dented as the sale of house sites, and that
is another agency for uncommon activity.
The Ross house has been staked out, and
the stakes show that here is to be another
castle. The Johnson house, the Ross
house, the Vail house, the Pushee house
and the Van Keuren house are all far
enough along now to show what they rep
resent, and here is another surprise, for
no one suspected such expensive and welU
designed buildings for the beginning of
construction at Knollwood. Every house
on the hill has exceeded expectations, and
when they are completed they will still
further excite surprise, for they are'all a
•little or much more ambitious than was
contemplated when the first sketches were
made.
