Ray of Pine- burst, an amateur who won three ma jor tournam/ents at jPinehuret last season, defeated Emmet French of Youngstown, Ohio, former captain of the United States professional team that played England, partnered with Eugene Homans of Englewood, N. J., Princeton golfer, who tied Bobby Jones for the medalist honor in the 1929 national amateur at Pebble Beach, Cal., Turner and Ray won, best ball count, by 3 and 2, having a best ball of 69. The match was played over the No. 2 championship course of the Pinehurst Country Club which Turner shot in par 71.
