Aherdsen students have something
to work for besides honor and glory
this year. Many prizes have been of
fered by persons interested in the
schools here, to be presented at the
end of the school year. The complete
list is as follows:
1. Gold medal given by Masonic
Order for exemplary citizenship, to be
awarded to a Senior.
2. Medal given by the D. A. R.
for highest average in American His
tory. This to be awarded to a mem
ber of the eleventh grade.
3. Science prize given by G. C.
Seymour, to be awarded for highest
average in Science classes.
4. English prize, given by the Book
Club for highest average in year’s
work. Students in all English classes
in High School are eligible.
5. Mathematics prize, given by
Page Trust Company for outstanding
work in mathematics. Only members
of the tenth grade who have taken
three years in this course are eligi
ble.
6. Latin medal, given by Dr. A. H.
McLeod, as a memorial to his mother,
to be awarded for highest average.
Students in all Latin classes are eli
gible.
7. French prize given by Mrs. M.
F. Butner for highest average. Stu
dents in both Frinch classes are eli
gible.
8-9. Recitation and declamation
prizes ($10.00 gold pieces) given by
a friend of the school as a memorial
to Allison Martin Page, and Thomas
Banner Wilder, Jr.
10. Music medal given by Mr. and
Mrs. Hardin Gunter for greatest im
provement in music during the year.
11. Music prize given by Miss
White for the pupil making the next
best improvement.

deen for excellence. One will be given
in each of the two domestic science
classes.

Mrs. Cochran is the charming
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Wil
son and a graduate of Kings-Smith
Studios in Washington, D. C. Mr.
Cochran is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Walter P. Cochran of Concord and
holds a responsible position with the
International Harvester Co., of Char
lotte. Immediately after the ceremony
the young couple left for a bridal tour
through Florida. They will be at home
after December 5 in Concord.
