Dr. J. G. de ^oulhac Hamilton, Keenan Professor of History at the University told members of the Kiwanis Club of Aberdeen at their weekly meeting in the Civic Club, Southern Pines, Wed nesday noon. He gave a most interest ing talk on the work which the Un iversity is doing to reveal the true history of the South. Dr. Hamilton stated that the work of collecting historical data bearing on this section of the country was started by the University in 1844, and the town, for her rare beauty and j golden voice, admired by ■unattached! man and her hand sought by men of*^ wealth. She has no time for affairs | of heart, so she says, and then, in the | dead of night, her apartment is in-1 vaded by a burglar, a thief in the night, come to rob her of her jewels. Thus begins the story whose theme is the unique love romance of a burglar and a prima donna. Reginald Denny has the most glorious co-featuring role of his entire career as a burglar with an ambition to sing. Pre-Christmas Sale Now Going on at MARIQN SHOPPE will continue until Christmas. This committee, upon organization, will completely canvas the situation from the standpoint of possible jobs and number of jobless, and fit the puzzle together as best it can. Just how many are out of employment in Southern Pines now numbers around 4,000 persons, is not known, but ap peals are being made to merchants and others almost daily and there is said to be some indiscriminate beg ging among residents. With no centralized agency of control,Hhe mer chants and residents have no means of checking up on whether appeals to them are worthy cases.
