Talbot John son was very enjoyable, and a pro nounced success from every point of- view. There was about $35.00 realized from this tparty, which is to go for the distribution of free hot lunches by the hot lunch committee o fthe association to the underprivileged children in our grammar school. The guests sat down to 14 tables, and after several interesting pro gressions prizes were awarded to the following: Mrs. Frank Shamburger, E. T. McKeithen, and Mrs. Wrenn playing Contract Bridge; and Miss Mary Leach,*Mrs. Jesse Frink, Miss Sarah Weaver, Mrs. M. Schwartzman, Mrs. J. F. Deaton, G. C. Seymour, Mrs. Stewart Weaver, W. W. Maurer, Miss Christine Allred, Miss Elizabeth Thomas and Betsy Jean Johnson as Auction Bridge players. The prizes past morth, returned to her home at Buie’s Creek last week. A. E. Chambers, who has been man ager of the A. & P. store here for some time, has resigmed his position with them to accept a position with the Howard-Bobbitt Co. Mrs. J. W. Newell of Florence, S. C., is an Aberdeen visitor and the guest of her mother, Mrs. Joe Pleas ants. Herman Pleasants of Raieigh, was the guest of his sisters, Mrs. Elvyn Capps and Miss Lillian Pleasants last week. Dickie Johnson has been carrying around a black eye and bruised face for the past week, the result of being struck by a telephone wire as he was driving under it at Vass last week.
