Celebrates Fourth Birthday Little Miss 'Myrtle Alice Sham- burger was a charming hostess to a number of her small friends on last Thursday afternoon at her lovely home on Page Heights in Aberdeen celebrating her fourth birthday. R. A. Andrews of Fayetteville were recent visitors at the Gardner home. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Coffey return ed Tuesday night from Richmond, Va., last week on account of her father they spent the week-end with Book Club Meets The Thursday Afternoon Book Club held its regular meeting at the Com munity House in Aberdeen on last Thursday afternoon with Mrs. E. L. Pleasants acting as the gracious hostess. The meeting opened with sev eral songs by the whole Book Club, followed by several interesting read ings as follows: “Mural Paintings in America” by Mrs. R. N. Page; “Jules Guion (Southern)” by Mrs. E. T. Mc- Keithen. The next meeting on September 10th will be under hte direction of Mrs. H. E. Bow’man and have as its having suffered a recent stroke of paralysis. Gordon Keith, who is taking a course in dye and cleaning at Wash ington, D. C., made a visit home to his family over the past week-end. Mrs. L. L. Johnson has accepted the position as manager of the teacher- age for the coming school year, and IS busily engaged getting everything in readiness for the school opening on September 16th. Aubrey Norris has accepted a po sition with the Western Union Tele graph Company at Sanford. M iss Margaret Gwyn of Mt. Airy has been a recent guest in the home of her brother, Robert Gwyn. Miss Daisy Condor, the efficient manager of Mack’s Five and Ten Cent Store, has just returned from her vacation which she spent with her mother at Jonesboro. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weaver left last weok to make their future home at Sanford. Their many friends in Aber deen were sorry to see them go. Mr. and Mrs. Clay Kirk announce relatives. Of much interest to his many friends is the announcement of the mar riage of Holt Gardner, second oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Gardner of Lakeview, to Miss Madolyn Wright of Columbia, S. C. The marriage took place at Columbia Saturday, August 29th, and the happy couple spent the week-end with the groom’s people in Lakeview, returning Monday to Pa trick, S. C., where Mr. Gardner is en gaged in business. Rev. Charles A. Lawrence who has been visiting relatives in New York state and Ohio on his vacation trip, is expected home this week and will fill his regular,appointment at the Lake view church Sunday morning, Septem ber 6th, at 11:00 o’clock.
