The Misses Fannie and Ethel Gray returned Thursday of last week from Malden, Mass., where they spent a month’s vacation. Mrs. Mary H. Pinkerton of Char lottesville, Va., were guests of Dr. and Mrs. Frank Pinkerton from Fri day until Monday. Miss Sarah Stewart returned Satur day from a visit with Miss Pearl McNeill and Miss Sadie Stewart in Charlotte. Mrs. Martin Wicker and Miss Myr- trice Wicker spent Thursday in Dur ham shopping. Frank McCaskill of the General of fice force, spent a part of his vaca tion in Roaritig Gap last week. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Drake of Ma con are guests this week of Mr. ani Mrs. T. H. Rowan. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Griffith of Charlotte spent Thursday in Pine- hurst and were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Picquet fo rthe day. I. C. Sledge returned Monday from a few days stay at Virginia Beach, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Hardin spent Sunday and Monday with Dr. and Mrs. Norman Hardin in Greensboro. Miss Bernice Burton returned Mon day from a week-end motor trip to Chimney Rock, Asheville and Mt. Mitchell. Miss Hope Spivey of Chicago arriv ed in Pinehurst Tuesday and is the guest of her cousin, Miss Verdun Shaw. She will be here for an ex tended time and will visit other rela tives in the county before returning to Chicago. Charles Fields and his brother-in- law, A. N. Glasspool, returned Sunday from a two-weeks’ motor trip through the north. They were accompanied home by Mrs. Fields and Miss Stella Freeman, who had been visiting in New York for six weeks. Among the Pinehurst people at Roaring Gap for the week-end were Mr. and Mrs. Willard Dunlop. Miss Melba Wicker spent several days last week visiting her little cousins, George Page Moffitt in Troy. Alex Stewart, Jr., left Monday for Oak Ridge where he entered Oak Ridge Military Institute for a year's special work. Mrs. A. P. Thompson, Mary Spen cer Harrington of Aberdeen, Miss Fannie Gray and Miss Janie Henley were Fayetteville \asitors Tuesday. Miss Myrtrice Wicker, Travis Wicker, Frank McCaskill and Bill Gonger motored to Greensboro Sat urday and were week-end guests of the Misses Louise and Louvinia Sykes. Mr. and Mrs. Kingston Gregg spent Sunday with Mrs. Gregg’s parents, Mr, and Mrs. J. 0. Kerns at their home in Farmer. Alex Stewart and family attended the home coming at Smyrna Presby- teriain^ Church near Laurinburg orU last Sunday where services commem orating the 129th anniversary of vhe existence of the church were held. Mr. Stewart is a descendant of one of the oldest families in this very old group, an uncle, Norman Stewart of Laurinburg being one of the two oldest members now living, having served in this church for 63 years. The circles of the Woman’s Aux iliary of the Communit Church vill meet next week as follows: Circle No. 1, Mrs.. Rassie Wicker, chairman, with Mrs. Dojiald Currie, Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock; Circle No. 2, Mrs. L. V. Henderson, chairman, with Mrs. Hulon Cole at the same hour; Circle No. 3, Mrs. J. S. Dun lop, chairman, with Mrs. A. J. Fry Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock. The Rev. W. M. McLeod is in Charlotte this week attending a meet ing of the Synod of North Carolina, in session at Queen-Chicora College. He will return the latter part of the week in time to fill his appointment here on next Sabbath. Mrs. Lathan Fouchee entertained Mrs. Douglas David at a shower at the home of Mrs. Lampley. The Ladies Aid of the Methodist church met at the home of Miss Ella Backus Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. J. D.
