THE TIME TO BUY IS WHEN MANY PEOPLE WANT TO SELL H North Carolina Home-Coming Day at University Saturday Georgia Game Expected to At tract Scores of Alumni.— Many From Here to Attend Munds & Winslow, members of the New York Stock Exchange, have op ened their Pinehurst office in the Carolina Hotel for the winter sea son. I E. C. Stevens has leased the store occupied last winter by the White Mountain Photo Shop, on Broad street. Southern Pines, for a new barber shop. The grounds of the Highland Pines Inn, Southern Pines, are being put in shape preparatory to the opening of the inn about November 20th. o That starts buying: on an increasing scale. That induces improvement in business. Then later when people want to buy Prices go up. The prudent man buys when folks want to sell. Just now you can have your pick of build- ang’ locations on Weymouth Heights. By and by when many of those sites now available are gone prices- will probably be higher and choices fewer. Moral—When it is raining opportunities put out your tub. S. B. RICHARDSON ^ Real Estate Southern Pines. North Carolina The new quarters for the broker age firm ,of Gammack & Company in the Village Court Building, Pinehurst, have been completed. The office will open next month, according to Augus tine Healy, manager. Dr. E. M. Medlin has completed his I new building on Poplar street, Aber- ' deen, and is busy this week selecting furniture for his new dental offi ces. Harry B. Emery has opened his i real estate office in the General of fice Building, Pinehurst. Miss Katherine Pierson of New York, interior decorator, has leased j an apartment in the Mudgett Build- . Ing, Southern Pines, for the winter. TO OPERATE PRODUCE HOUSE IN ABERDEEN . r. M. Pruett of Mt. Airy is erecting ' a building ,on South Street, Aberdeen, opposite the “Pleasant” Service sta tion, where he will conduct a produce I house. Mr. Pruitt will specialize in I apples and vegetables from Virginia, and will purchase other vegetables and i fruits from local farmers, either for ^ cash or in exchange for produce. Mr. I and Mrs. Pruitt have moved tp Aber- I ^6®n where they will make their fu- ' ture residence. Mr. and Mrs. D. T. Preston of Vir ginia spent part ,of the past week-end in Aberdeen as guests of Dr. and Mrs. H. E. Bowman. I There will be big doings at the Un iversity of North Car,olina this com- I ing Saturday, October 17. It will be Home Coming Day for the Carolina alumni. The old grads will return in larger numbers than at any other time during the year. A crowd of 25,000 is expected. Many from the Sandhills plan to attend. The feature event, of course, will be the Carolina-Ge|Orgia football game which will get under way at 2:30 o’clock. Just now it looks like those who attend will see the 1931 national football champions in action. Georgia has a clean slate to date and only last Saturday beat the mighty Yale 26 to 7. If the Georgians lick the Tar Heels it is figured they’ll stand a powerful- ^ ly good chance of going the remaind er'of the season without defeat. In view of Georgia’s tough schedule, which includes several intersectional contests, the Bulldogs will pr.obably have every reason to claim the na tional championship if they go un defeated. ■ ^ The Tar Heels are planning to put up their best scrap of the season in Saturday’s big game, but whether they win or lose, the fans will get an eye full of some of the best football they’ll have a chance to witness this season. For Georgia has some (Of the nauon’s outstanding players, among them “Jack the Ripper” Roberts, full- i back, “Catfish” Smith, end, and Aus-, tie Downs, quarterback. Likewise the | Tar Heels will show such stars as little Johnny Branch, the greatest small bit of human dynamite ever to step on a Carolina gridiron; Rip Slus-' ser, the Bl«onde Blizzard, who^ scintal- la4;es at halfback, and a line that is undoubtedly one of the greatest in the country this year. I Tar Heel supporters believe Caro- I lina will hold Georgia to a closer score than did Yale. Just how much closer is a matter for conjecture. | Graduate Manager Charles T., Woollen and his corps of assistants are making ample arrangements for taking care of the large crowd expect-' ed, plenty of seats, and plenty of traf- : fic cops to handle the crowd with a minimum of inqonvenience to all visi- ; tors. The University town will keep open house. tt § t: u U PAUL T.BARNllM, INC Insurance of All Kinds —At The— Citizens’ Bank Building Southern Pines, N. C. Successors To PAUL T. BARNUM and S. R.
