Charles, Proprietor The School Party The Hallowe’en party given at the Aberdeen High School Auditorium last Friday night was pronounced the most enjoyable social occasion of the ! season. Witches, hants, spooks and I their like reigned supreme and the I evening’s program was most success- I ful* The popularity contest was an im- I portant feature of the evening, and I Miss Virginia Butner of Pinebluff was crowned queen, having received the largest number of votes in this contest. In the cake contest little Chris Shamburger was presented with a huge, delicious cake as he was the fortunate possessor of the lucky num ber. » The play put on that night by the pupils ,of the grammar grades was -e:y good indeed, and very amusing. At the close of the evening it was found that the proceeds were some thing over $100.00 which will go to wards school purposes. Biidg\ Club at her home on Rush street last Friday night. A delightful hour of the game was enjoyed and at its close the high score prize was presented to Mrs. Forrest Lockey, second prize to Mrs. Neill McKeithen and the guest prize to Mrs. Jones Ma con. An enjoyable social hour followed the game during which the hostess served refreshments. The Hallowe’en motif was effectively carried out in the favors, and refreshments. Club Meets Mrs. A. K. The large party of children chaperoned by the Rev. and Mrs. E. L. Barber and Mrs. W. T. Worsham met at the Presbyterian church and were conveyed to the Pinebluff Lake in large trucks filled with hay. Russell-Smith A marriage that conies as a great surprise to the community of Aber deen is that of Miss Mildred Russell and Jack Smith, which took place at Bennettsville, S. C., on July 28th last. Mrs. Smith is the only daughter of Mrs. S. E. Sloan of Aberdeen, and is a charming brunette of pleasing per sonality. She is a graduate of the General Hospital at Knoxville, Ten nessee, and up until recently has been nursing in the Moore County Hospi tal. At present she is assistant office nurse of Dr. E. M. Medlin in Aber deen. Mr. Smith is a son of J. J. Smith of New Bern, and holds a position with the Mountain Ice Company in Aberdeen, where he is very popular.
