Duncan Matthews, Commission- HE financing of a home keeps many of us from acquiring this most worthwhile of all possessions. Perhaps one of the diffi culties in connection with financing is that prospective home-builders bite off more than they can chew. Having been satis fied, for instance, with a three-room apart ment, the same family seldom considers a three-room detached dwelling. In the tran sition from renter to owner, the tendency is to double' the floor space occupied. This makes home-ownership seem too expensive a proposition in many instances. The walls and roof of the Colonial Cot tage illustrated are of wood shingles. They could be stained any combination of colors to suit the individual owner. Natural wood is harmonious to tne plain lines of this type of small house architecture. The floor plan is conveniently arranged for life in quarters of this size. Plans are shown for adding a bcdrocm and bath later, or they could be built wvith the first unit. Complete building plans and specifications are available for this cottage for $1.00. In cluded with the plans is a cardboard cut-out ' model of this cottage, architecturally drawn to scale. The model can be colored, and it will visualize for you exactly what the com pleted cottage will look like. Address your request for plans and model to the editor of this paper. Is the home of the Moore County Hounds with its regiment of horses, and with their affiliated owners and riders. Weymouth is the capital of the Knigdom of the Horse, and on all roads on Weymouth, and on all cross roads, bridle-paths, by-ways and main thoroughfares horses of Weyinouth are the familiar sight from ^ow until spring. Friends of the horse make pretty good neighbors. They have made Weymouth a magnificent place to live, and the lands they have bought round -about Wey mouth are a hostage to the future influence they will ^xert in keeping Weymouth the place t'hat itis an d is to be. , The official weather report for the month of October records but one and seventy-twio- one-hundreths of an inch of rain for the month, nearly an inch and one-quarter less than normal, and marking a total for the year of 4C.18 inches, 3.68 inches less than normal, but 7.64 inches over the same period of last year. From August 23rd with the cessation of four days of rain, to N.ovember 1st, a period of sixty-nine days, just two-and-one-half inches of rain was recorded for this territory. An increase of temperature was also noted for this Autumn month, the average being 66-5, 3-7 degrees over the normal average of 62-8; the max imum being 79-9, minimum 53-1 as against the normal maximum of 74-5, and minimum 51.0. A high of 96 was recorded lOn the 7th, and a low of 35 degrees on the 18th. ishment under advisement and'orde;*- ed the defendant to report ,on next Monday for final disposal of the case. The trouble arose following a “corn- shucking” in the upper part of the county. J. L. Honeycutt and John Brower appeared in court to pnove good be haviour, this being required of them as a result of charges of violating the prohibition law.
