Friday, February 23, 1934. THE PILOT. Southern Pines and Aberdeen, North Carolina rage Fiv# District Commander Leffion Guest March 1 Sandhill Post Striving for Full Membership Quota Before Wednesday The reg\ilar meeting of Sandhill Post No. 134 scheduled to have been held in Aberdeen this Thursday night waa postponed until next Thursday night', March 1st in order that Dis trict Commander Ferree could attend and address the meeting. The post will convene in the Methodist Club House in Aberdeen at 8:00 p. m. The post is busy with its annual membership drive in an effort to sign up its 1934 membership quota before the District Commander’s visit and Post Commander Vance Rowe urges all members who have not already signed up for 1934 to do so before next Thursday lught. The recent appointment of Vice Commander John Stephenson as Unit ed States Deputy Marshal for the Middle Distlrict of N. C. will probably necessitate a special meeting for the election of some one to fill his place, as the Legion's by-laws prohibit Le gion officials from holding political office at the same time. Plans for the Legion Minstrel Show to rebuild the Post’s Disabled Veteran’s Relief Fund are going for ward under the direction of Lloyd Wooley and L. V. O’Callaghan. This fund has been sadly depleted during the past two years because of the many demands made upon it by sick and disabled veterans whose compen sation has been cut off, or who have been out of work. Any contributions to this fund may be sent to Shields Canieron, aJjutant, or F. M. Dw’ight, finance officer of the past.
