Autos and Wives Cause Men Trouble Pai-t Week in Recorder’s Court Gives Them 50-50 Rating as Source of Man’s Trouble Judging from this week’s Record er’s court, automobiles and wives are the causes of most of the ills that be fall mankind and their rating is about 50-50. C. A. Buckner, white, a traveling man from New Bern was fined $50 and the costs, just because his auto mobile happened to be making 70 miles an hour when a patrolman came along. On the "ery day that Willie Gold- ston, colored of Eagle Springs came into possession of an automobile, his troubles began. He was haled into court on charges of driving without a license and driving while intoxicat ed, and now he must spend four months improving the roads that he would like to be driving over in his newly acquired conveyance. While making a trip to get medi cine for a sick person, Carl Furr of Eagle Springs, white, was stopped by a patrolman, not because he was on an errand of mercy, but because his automobile had no license plate. Prayer for judgment was continued upon payment of the costa. «• Bill McCan, colored of Eagle Springs was given twelve months for assaulting his wife and daughter with a deadly weapon. Blake Garner, white of near Hemp, got drunk, it is said, and fought his wife, and he, too, was given twelve months on the roads. Mack Parsons, white of Southern Pines, pleaded nolo contendere to a charge of abandoning his wife and baby, and he is to pay three dollars each week for their support and re turn to his wife a radio which he had previously given her as a birthday gift.
