Miss Ila Mae Cau- then, Kershaw, S, C, The screen seldom presents a more thoroughly interesting piece of enter tainment than the adaptation of Dashiell Hemmetts popular novel, "The Thin Man,” featuring William Powell and Myrna Loy, which is the attraction at the Southern ^ Pines Theatre, Monday, Tuesday and Wed nesday, July 9, 10, 11 with a Tuesday matinee. The rapid fire dialogue is about the best heard since talkies and it is de livered by Powell and Miss Loy to perfection. The story concerns the mysterious disappearance of an old inventor and the efforts of the local police force to uncover the mystery. Powell, a retired detective who is married to wealthy Myrna Loy, Is at first amused at the efforts of the cops but later takes it upon himself to solve the mystery. Here’s a mys tery melo-drama, with all the thrill and suspense; comedy in which there is a laugh in almost every line of dia logue, action and situation; roman tic love interest that's sweet and sympathy stimulating and has enter tainment that is entertiinment from start to finish. Force comedy, predominates in "Kiss and Make Up," featuring Gary Grant, Helen Mack, Edward Everest Horton and Genevieve Tobin, which is the attraction Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 12, 13, 14 with a Saturday matinee. Carrying a stand by romantic motivation, novel en tertainment is found in the striking manner in which it liberally saterizes the modern feminine tendency to k«ep young and charming via beauty shop, face lifting, diet and prescribed ex ercising. Well mounted and dre-ssed. modern settings and innovations make it a good looking picture. It is lavish, eye filling and humorous. Added interest is the inclusion of the famous Wampas Baby Stars of 1934, including Katherine W'illiams, | Lucile Lund, Judith Arlen, Jean Gale, [ Hazel Hayes, GiGi Parish, Bfetty Bry-1 son and others. An adeted attraction is E anothpr of those Our Gang Ccimedies, "Honky Donky.” THE WEEK IN VASS about an hour singing for the in mates.
