Undertaking Embalming Ambulance Service East Broad St., Southmi Pines $10,000 For Relief in County Durinpr August Mrs. O’Herry Announces Allot ments of $98fi,050 for Cities and Counties of State The sum of $10,000 for relief pur poses in Moore county during the month of August has been alloted by Mrs. Thomas O'Berry State Relief Administrator, it was announced on Tuesday. The allotment for the en tire state is $986,050 and for other counties in this vicinity as follows: Cumberland, $10,000; Hoke, $3,. 000; Lee, $5000; Montgomery, $5,700; Randolph, $8,000; Scotland, $9,000 and Chatham, $8,000. The money will be used for work relief and for direct relief but not for rural rehabilitation projects. A separate allotment has been made for the rehabilitation program. The North Carolina Relief Admin istration asked Federal Relief offi cials for approximately $1,965,000 for August needs but were alloted only $1,460,000. The part not expended ^pr work and direct relief will be spent on special projects, cannei-y work and the rural rehabilitation program. Guilford county, including High Point and Greensboro, received the largest allotment, $71,000. Of that amount, the county received $9,000, Greensboro $32,000 and High Point $30,000. At noon a sumptious dinner featured by a Brunswick stew was served, and during the afternoon watermelons and lemonade were served. Music on stringed instruments was furnished by Henry Parker, Harold Parker, Tommie Newell and Quentin Alexander, and Mrs. Leon Rosser played the accompaniments for a program of group singing. Those from out of town here for the reunion were Lenion Parker, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Parker and family. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Parker and son. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Diggs and children, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Diggs. Mr. Kann and Miss Irene Cann, of Cor dova; Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Parker and children, John Pate and children. H Ponish of Max- ton were week-end guests in the home of Dr. R. G. Rosser. On Satur day Mrs. Rosser and the children ac companied them to Myitle Beach for the day. Billy Keith of Salisbury is visiting his grandmother, Mrs. Jane Keith. Mrs. Rose Tillman and mother, Mrs. Stewart, of Laurinburg and Mr. and Mrs. L. C. W'allace of Carthage visited at the J. M. Tyson home Sun day afternoon. Miss Betty Wallace of Carthage visited Miss Marie Tyson Sunday af ternoon. H. Ponish of Max- ton, met in Carthage for rehearsals twice a week during June and July. The final rehearsal before vacation was held on Thursday afternoon of last week and following this a pic nic was held at Juniper Lake, attend ed by the pupils, a number of the parents, and by other pupils from Rowland, Maxton and Laurinburg. The group is planning to give a con cert in Vass some time in Septem ber. There are around twenty from Moore county in the orchestra, from Vass, Carthage, Pinehurst and South ern Pines.
