Steel Safes and Filing Cabinets at Hayes’ Book Sh^ip. “Have A Heart,” Jean Parker’s first starring vehicle, which is the attrac tion at the Southern Pines Theatre Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Oc tober 1, 2, 3, with a Tuesday matinee, i.s truly the love story of a decade— its romance will stir the heart of every spectator with sympathetic in. terest. The wholesome theme of the picture concerns the regeneration of a cripple girl through a romance that gives her the will to overcome her handicap--and marry the man of her heart. ’ Into the simple plot are packed comedy, pathos, tragedy, hope and courage, with the colorful background of New York’s lower eastside "Ghet- tr." di.strict. The male lead is played by James Dunn, who gives sympa thetic warmth to the part of Jim mie Flarety, vendor of ice cream, who sells his goods in heart shapes, for a nickel, but finds one heart he couldn't buy or sell for a million dol lars. Comedy highlights are provided by Un3. Merkel and Stuart Erwin, whose antics that are packed with laughter. One of America’s most noted au thors. Irvin S. Cobb, has supplied Will Rogers with his latest vehicle, "Judge Priest,” which comes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Octo ber 4, 5, 6, with a Saturday matinee. According to all advance reports, the film gives W'ill the finest and most human role of all those he has played on the screen. Rich human interest blends with laughter and tears in this tale of a sleepy southern town, which still is not too sleepy to cradle stir ring drama. Rogers contributes to the film a memorable portrait of this ex-confederate soldier, who dilutes justice with the milk of human kind ness and who saves from disaster a helpless girl and the father whom she has never known. Stepin Fetchit is again a riot as the awkward, inarticulate and bewil- dered .servant who covets the Judge’s vest and mink coat. tiK.\l*F:s FOR S.\I.E FOR SALE: Black Scuppernong Grapes.
