Supreme Court, as chairman of Pi-esident Roo.sevelt’s newly created Textile Labor Relations Board, is considered not only a dis tinct honor to him and the State, but will place the N. C. chief justice in a favorable position for appointment as a jiiRtice of the United States Su preme Court if he .satisfactorily ac complished the new task and a va cancy occurs during the administra tion of President Roo;sevelt. More Money AsUtnl Requests for appropriations pre sented by the State’s department, in stitutions and agencies for each year of the next biennium, to be presented to the 1935 General Assembly, are about $7,000,000 a year more than was appropriated for each year of the present biennium, the Advisory Bud get Commission, receiving requests last week, found. Most of this in crease, $4,200,000, was for increase in teachers’ .salaries and school neieds. The commission is meeting ag:ain this week to try to juggle and work down together the amount of expect ed revenue and the appropriations it will recommcnd to cany on the State’s activities.
