Overlooking the City Park is the
comfortable clubhouse and roque
courts of the Southern Pines Men's
Club, an organization providing the
only standard championship courts
for this pastime in the state, and
upon which many national and state
champions play during the winter
season.
Organized in 1914, with one court
the original club was adopted in
the formation of the Men’s Club in
1925, the erection of the clubhouse
and the building of two more courts
following the amalgamation, thus pro
viding additional opportunity for res
idents and visitors in Southern Pines
to follow this popular pastime. Com
fortable seats in the well kept
grounds are provided for the many j
spectators of the daily contests.
The clubhouse is open every day |
except Sunday, and for a modest i
membership fee residents and season I
visitors are provided comfortable
quarters for bridge, chess, pool and
billiards.
