THE PILOT, Southern Pines and Aberdeen, North Carolina The Week in Vass Miss Klizabeth Sneed, head of the relief work in Moore county, was the ^est speaker at the meeting of the Vass Woman’s Club which was held on Friday evening in the Beasley Apartments with Miss Mary Beasley, Mrs. C. J. Temple and Mrs. Bertie L. Matthews as hostesses. Miss Sneed, who came upon the invitation of the Public Welfare de partment which had charge of the program, gave an instructive talk about the new set up in the county, and suggested ways in which the club women could be of service to the families in the community that are on relief. The outstanding business of the evening was the annual election of officers, which resulted in the re- election of the following: President, Mrs. S. R. Smith; vice-president, Mrs. H. A. Borst; secretary, Mrs. C. L. Tyson; treasurer, Mrs. Ben H. Wood; heads of departments: Civics, Mrs. Emma Laubscher; American Home, Mrs. G. W. Brooks; Public Welfare, Mrs. C. A. Lawrence, and Literature, Mrs. D. C. McGill. The club voted to hold a plant ex change at the home of Mrs. Laub scher at 3 o’clock this Friday after noon; to further urge our represen tatives to support Supt. Erwin’s school proposal in full, and to join with the Lakevlew club in procuring a cot and bedSing for the Vass-Lake- view school to be used by children be coming indisposed during school hours. A delightful social hour followed the business meeting, and the host esses served delectable refreshments. Four guests in addition to Miss Sneed ' were present, Miss Flora McDonald of Carthage, Miss Emma Gorham of Falkland, and Misses Exie Beasley and Lois Buchanan of the local ; school faculty. On next Sunday morning at the I 11 o’clock hour at the Metnodist church the Holy Communion will be ob.served following the sermon. This will be the first communion service of the new church year, and a full attendance is desired. Little Miss Janet Rosser will play a violin solo. Two sermons ol' unusual interest were preached here last Sunday. In the morning the Rev. C. A. Law rence of the Presbyterian church spoke especially to the young people, his general theme being the call of the Christ to the youth of today. At the evening hour the Rev. Leon M.
