in
As a result of action taken by the
Board of County Commissioners on
Monday, two outstanding improve
ments are to be made which will be
of interest to the public.
The board voted to have the Car
olina Blue Print Company make a
photostatic copy of each map now on
file in the office of the Register of
Deeds. These maps, which wil be re
enforced with cloth, will be in a map
book with index and cross index.
The photostat is a special photo
graphic camera, designed for the di
rect photographing of maps, draw
ings. etc., directly on the surface of a
I specially sensitized paper without a
reversal of the image, and producing
I a clear record in white on a black
ground. The cost to the county will
be $861.
The maps will be in Raleigh for
about three weeks which is the ap
proximate time required for the con\-
pletion of the photostatic work.
The Board voted to give the Ob
server Printing House an order for
60 roller book shelves to be installed
in the office of the Clerk of the Su
perior Court at a price of $300.
A permit to sell beer was granted
M. M. Poole of Jackson Springs, and
a large number of beer licenses were
renewed. It was ordered that Pat
Ray and Jim Caviness be admitted to
the county home, that Paul Thomas
be relieved of poll tax on account of
disability, and that Nivin Ray be al
lowed $10 per month for May and
June on account of sickness.
