Location of the Western North Car olina tubercular sanatorium will be on the old Buckner place, two miles from Black Mountain and on both sides of Route 10 in Buncombe county, the site committee announces and the board of directors approves. Kemp D. Battle, chairman of the site committee, and Senator Lee L. Grave ly, chairman of the directors, both of Rocky Mount, made the announce ment. The old Buckner place contains 176 acres and cost $18,200, while deduc tions of contributions made will re duce the cost to S12,861. On the site is a plateau suitable for buildings, protected on the north by a range of mountains and open on the other three sides. Asheville water and sew er lines cross the property, as does the Southern Railway, and it is near the mountain test farm, from which dairy products and vegetables may be secured. The Asheville Chamber of Commerce will furnish water free for five years. The sanatorium was au thorized by the 1935 General Assem bly.
