Agents To Handle
Allotment Cards
Tobacco Growers Given Credit
for Surplus Yields if
Cards are Secured
Growers who will need addition,
al tobacco allotment cards this fall
should secure them through' their
county agents.
These growers will be given cred
it for their surplus yields only when
the additional cards are secured
from the agents eplained E. Y. Kloyd
of State College.
In preparing future contracts, he
continued, 1935 will be one of the
base years, and growers will need ac
curate records of their production for
this year to get full allotments.
Due to various conditions, some of
the growers are producing on their
allotted acreage more tobacco than
they can sell under their regular co(j-
tract allotments, while .others are
not producing as much as their aL
lotments.
At the request of growers, arrange
ment has been made that those with
a short crop may take thei** surplus
allotment cards to their county
agents, who will transfer the cards
I to growers with an excess poundage
! to sell this fall.
I Since the cards are to sell at the
' rate of four cents a pound, except
I when buyer and seller may agree on
another figure, the transferrence of
cards will enable growers with an
excess to sell their weed at a profit
and at the same time provide the im-
! derproducer with a form of crop in-
I sur£ince.
Floyd also pointed out that when
, an underproducer turns the unused
part of his allotment card over to
the county agent, his deficiency is re.
: corded so that he will receive a defi-
I ciency payment from the AAA as
provided by his contract.
I Political prognosticators are now
! trying to tell us how the election next
fall will come out. Looking ahead,
j whether right or wrong, is their
stock in trade.
