Mrs. Katherine Shaw of Southern

W. D. Mathews returned Sunday
from a trip to Blowing Rock.
Mrs. C. M. Gattis and little
daughter, Julia Ann, of Raleigh are
guests of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Corbett.
Edgar Oldham of Polkton and two
of his friends, Alton Ritter and Tom
Lasiter, were guests of Edgar’s par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Oldham,
last week-end.
After spending several months at
the home of her brother, J. M. Tyson,
Mrs. Mamie Dion returned to Raleigh
on Friday of last week.
Mrs. A. M. Cameron and children,
Miss Marian and A. Mac, are visit,
ing relatives in Buie’s Creek for a
few days.

where she has been visiting relatives.
Philip Austin Wood was honored
by the Vass Woman’s Club, of which
his mother, Mrs. Ben H. Wood is a
member, on Wednesday evening when
a number of the clubwomen gather
ed at his home with a shower ot
dainty gifts for him. Utterly obli
vious of the fact that he should be
polite to the nice ladies, young Phil,
with a chubby red fist on either side
of his head, slept peacefully on, leav-
ing it to his mother to admire the
gifts and to express thanks in the
way she thought best.
W. M. Blue returned home from
the Lee County Hospital last week
and is well on the way to recovery
from his recent severe attack of
pleurisy.
