Those from Vass who attended were Mrs. T. Frank Camron, Mrs. H. A. Borst, Mrs. S. R. Smith, Mrs. W. B. Gra. ham, W. H. Keith and J. M. Davis. Following the dinner a round-table di.scussion of church problems was held and inspirational talks were made by Mr Hall, G. C. Seymour, H. W. Doub and others. Mrs. T. J. Smith and Curtis and Margaret Bettina were Sanford vis. itors on Saturday. The Rev. Frank Hare of Jonesboro filled his regular appointment at the Baptist church Sunday morning and he and Mrs. Hare were dinner guests of Miss Mary Beasley. Mrs. R. A. Eubanks and little Do lores of New Bern, who had been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Cor. bett for several days, left Saturday to visit relatives in Roseboro. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Mrs. Ethel Kirby, who was called to her home in South Carolina early last week on account of the illness of her father, returned on Thursday, her father’s condition being improv. ed. After spending a week and a half with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Graham, Gerald Graham left on Wednesday for Ruffin, S. C. Martin Autrey, aged resident of the Cranes Creek community, is ill with pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Furr and Law rence Furr, w'ho recently removed from Vass to Willow Springs, spent Saturday in town. Misses Sallie and Bessie Cameron were Fayetteville visitors Saturday. N. M. Smith of Jacksonville spent the week-end here. Mrs. Ben H. Wood and children spent the latter part of the week with her mother, Mrs. Shaw, on Cameron route. Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Oldham included Mr. and Mrs. Gilliland of Siler City, Mr. and Mrs. Riley B. Reece and little Sara Ann and Mr. and Mrs. Hunter, all of Durham, and Mrs, W. D. Wil son of near Vass. Three Found Guilty of Trespass and Property Damage; Two Take Appeals Neill, Robert and William J. Mc Intosh, Will H. Brown and W. C. Lassiter were charged with trespass ing and cutting growing timber un lawfully from property of E. F. Kel ly, M. C. McDonald and the R. L. Burns heirs. Brown, Lassiter and William J. McIntosh were found guil ty. Brown and Lassister were given 60 days each, suspended upon pay ment of three-fourths the costs, and McIntosh was given oO days, suspend ed upon payment of one.fourth the costs and upon the further condition that the defendants refrain from tresspassing on the property in the future. Brown and Lassiter gave notice of appeal to Superior Court and bond was fixed at $100 each. Neill McIn. tosh was found not guilty and Rob. ert was not taken.
