C.ARTHAGE GIRL SCOUTS
GUESTS OF RALEIGH GIRLS
The Caithage Girl Scouts were the
special guests of the Raleigh Girl
Scout Council last Friday night at
a jamboree given by the Council for
all the Girl Scouts of Raleigh.
The meeting took place at Camp
Craggy, the Boy Scout camp near
Raleigh, and was attended by over
175 scouts and leaders. The Rocky
Mount girls were also guests.
Twenty.five girl scouts from Car.
thage attended this delightful rally.
After a series of interesting out.door
games the scouts enjoyed a most
bountiful wiener feast with apples and
toasted marshmallows to top off the
menu.
As the evening progressed each of
the nine troops present gave a two.
minute stunt for the pleasure of the
group gathered around the big camp
fire in the Boy Scouts’ stone amphi
theatre. The occasion will be long re.
membered hy the Carthage Girl
Scouts as a delightful one.
CAR STOLEN FROM VASS
RECOVERED IN WADESBORO
When Mrs. Bertie L. Matthews of
Vass went out to her garage Monday
morning she found a thief had been
there during the night and had stol
en her 1933 Chevrolet coach. Officers
were notified but failed to get any
trace of the car in this vicinity. Later
in the day a telephone call from
Wadesboro revealed that the car had
been abandoned near there.
Smith’s Garage in Vass was enter,
ed on the same night that the car
was stolen, and a Ford axle was “bor.
rowed” for the purpose of opening ,a
window in A. W. McNeill’s grocery
and hardware store nearby. However,
the prowlers failed to gain entrance
to the store.
