Old Fashioned Spelling Bee on

Next Week
There will be a "Get Acquainted"
(tea at the Civic Club this afternoon
from four until six o’clock, to which
all men and women of Southern
Pines are invited, and all club mem-
foers will be the hcstesses. It is the
plan to have the clubhouse open
for som? pleasant affair or program
■every Friday, the time to be an
nounced each week, so that not only
members but visiting guests will
look forward to Friday as Civic Club
day. This week the program is to
be impromptu, for the party is plan-
*€d to meet the guests in town.
The next week on Friday, there will
be an old-fashioned “Spelling Bee”
in the clubhouse at 8:00 o’clock, to
which everyone is invited, ladies and
gentlemen, and the young people in
school too, if they enjoy spelling, and
there is no entrance fee. There is
some background to go with this con
test that promises to be very funny,
and of course there should be prizes
as well as honor to the winners. Be
sure to keep that evening free, the
night after Thanksgiving.
The luncheon and bridge at High
land Lodge, which was given for the
benefit of the Civic Club by Mrs.
Paul Pelton anil Mrs. Maude Grear-
son, was much enjoyed by the 50
guests, and all express a desire to at
tend the next benefit, to be given by

future. Those winning high score
