THE PILOT, Southern Pinfe^j and Aberdeen, North Carolina Page Three Big Week-End Crowd Visits Southern PincS All-Expense Tourists and Cham pion Football Team Spend Night Here One of the largest overnight crowds €ver to be entertained In Southern Pines unloaded here last Saturday night, and was whisked away by automobile to the several hotels to which the members had been cussign- ed. The large group was composed of between three and four hundred tourists from northern points mak ing an all-expense tour of the South under the auspices of Simmons Tours, New York Travel Tours, and West Side Travel Tours of New York and Asmond Laurens Tours, Inc., of Phil adelphia. This tour is said to be a direct result of the tour conducted for representatives of travel agencies last summer by The Carolinas, Inc. Big Improvement in County in Teacher Scholastic Standing Better Trained Personnel in Schools Gives Moore Rank- inf? Near Top in State The public schools of Moore coun ty have made notable Improvement in scholastic standards of the teaching personnel in the past seven years, as indicated by statistics revealed re cently by the County Board of Edu cation. The statement showed that in 1928-29, there were not any teachers of either race holding certif icates or diplomas equivalent to five years of standard college or univer sity training, whereas in 1935-36 the number had increased to eight white teachers.
