Four in County Lose
Driver’s Licenses
Careless, Reckless and Drunken
Operation of Cars Severely
Dealt with by Recorder
Four men heard the unwelcome
words, “driver's license revoked for
twelve months," spoken in connection
with judgment in their cases on Mon
day in Recorder’s court, and one, Her
man Harris, colored of Pinehurst,
found guilty of careless and reckless
driving and an assault with a deadly
weapon, gave notice of appeal to the
Superior Court from his three months
road sentence. He was placed under
$300 bond and his license to drive was
revoked pending the appeal.
Otis Simms, colored of Southern
Pines, drew 60 days, to be suspended
upon payment of a fine of $50 and the
costs after being found guilty of
drunken, reckless and careless driv
ing and driving with defective brakes.
The third of the group was A. H.
McKenzie, white of near Eastwood,
who was charged with drunken driv
ing in Carthage. His 60-day sentence
was to be suspended upon payment of
-$50 and the costs.
George McLeod, colored of Vass,
was the fourth to have his license re
voked, his offense being drunken driv
ing. He chose the $50 fine and costs
in preference to 60-days on the roads.
Ernest Hamlin, colored of Aber-
<leen, having failed to comply with
the judgment of the court in non-sup-
.port case tried in September, must
immediately begin serving his 60-day
■sentence.
Bcrnice Smith, white of Hemp,
^;ave notice of appeal to Superior
Court from his 6-months sentence
imposed for charges of trespass, re
sisting arrest and being drunk and
disorderly.
Edward Fisher, colored of Southern
Pines, was bound to Superior Court
on charges of breaking and entering
a dwelling house and taking there
from the sum of forty cents.
Alex McKenzie, white of Hemp,
wag given 30-days for public drunk
enness ,but the sentence was to be
suspended upon payment of the costs
and upon condition of good behavior
for twelve months.

Miss Vysta Markham who has been
taking a special course in nursing at
Peabody College, Nashville, Tenn. has
returned ami i.s spending a few days

nurse.
Mrs R G Matheson was called to
Snowdown, Ala. Saturday, to the bed

Kenneth Wooten, Cameron High
School pitcher, twirled a no-hit, no
run baseball game as the locals open
ed their season by turning back Car
thage, 7-0. The Cameron team played
errorless ball.
Wooten, who led the team's bas
ketball team in scoring, demonstrat
ed thorough superiority ever the Car
thage bat-swingers. He struck out
16.
Lankfort hit a homer with two on
bases in the first Inning to give Cam
eron enough runs to win. Wall made
a pair of hits to feature for the lo

Mr. and Mrs, William Loftin and
