Queen Esther Byrd, charged with
assaulting Izetta Malloy with a stick,
was given four months in jail. Queen
Esther is a colored woman of South
ern Pines.
Marie Blue, colored of Southern
Pines, was sentenced to serve three
months in jail for assaulting John D.
Capel with a deadly weapon. She was
alleged to have thrown a brick at
him as he sat in an automobile and
to have broken the windshield.

Willing Workers at the Baptist
Church Tuesday afternoon, but they
will hold a social at the Hollywood
Hotel Tuesday night for the purpose
of calling in the Holiday envelopes.
There will be a good program and
refreshments will be served. Any one
