McKelthen was hostess at luncheon on Monday at her home. Guests present were Mrs. A. J. Mc Rae of Long Island, N. Y., Mrs. John D. Muse of Henderson, Mrs. H. C. Gib son of Rockingham, Mrs. Jewell Hem phill, Mrs. W. M. Wooten and Miss Jacksie Muse. The many friends of Archie B. Mc Donald of the Cranes Creek section, will regret to learn of his death at the age of 73 which occurred on May 5, at the home of his niece, Mrs. Kate . Mr. McDonald was the son of the late John McDonald and Nancy Sinclair McDonald, promipent citizens of Moore County. Dr. and Mrs. John D. Muse of Hen derson are spending the week with Mrs. Loula Muse. Dr. Muse is attend ing the Dental Association at Pine- hurst. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Hemphill and little son of Troy, Miss June Mclver „ , Hemphill of E. C. T. C. were Mothers ! Day guests of Mrs. Jewell Hemphill. Mr. and Mrs. Earl York and sons of Raleigh and Robert Wooten of State College were guests on Mothers Day of Mr. and Mrs. W. M Mis. Herbert Mclnnis presented her music classes of Vass-Lakeview and Cameron Schools in a most pleasing recital in the auditorium at Cameron, on last Friday evening. The “Planta tion Medley,’’ by Miss Isabel McKeith- en, the instrumental solos by Miss McLauchlin of Vass-Lakeview and Miss Evelyn Ann Snow were particu larly well rendered. A costume tap dance by Miss Evelyn Ann Snow was beautifully interpreted. A Good Night chorus by the Glee Club closed the program. The Senior-Vesper Service held in | Mclver Gillis at Lakeland, Fla the school auditorium on last Sunday evening was very impressive and emi nently fitting. The Rev. J. A. Snow's sermon was filled with words of wis dom, telling the graduating class the things they must know in order to wisely build a Christian character, that would enable them to acquire success in the business world and to become worthy citizens of the state and nation. John Henderson, class mascot, en tertained th* seniors and the high school faculty at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Thomas, last Saturday evening at a party. On Tuesday evennig they were honored by the other little mascot, Ann Coma, at the home of her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Coma. Prof. and Mrs. R. F. Lowry com plimented the senior class on last Saturday afternoon by taking them to a track meet at the University of North Carolina. Misses Margaret and Mary Emma Thomas complimenting their niece, niece. Miss Elizabeth Thomas, a mem ber of the senior cla.ss entertained at a charming Rain-bnw party on Mon day evening. The home was decorated in the Rain-bow colors. Roses -the class flower -were in evidence throughout the house. Punch was served from the porch. Eight tables of Bunco were in play. High score in Bunco was held by Prof. Lowry, and in the unique contest, “Stories We Like,” Miss Elizabeth Thomas was inner, both were presented attractive prizes. Misses Mary McLeod and Lu- cillc Loving assisted the hostess in serving delicious ice cream and cake. On Tuesday evening at 6:30 o’clock, Prcf. and Mrs. R. F. Lowry enter tained at a beautifully appointed din ner. Covers were laid for State Sup erintendent Clyde Erwin, County Superintendent and Mrs. H. Lee Thomas and the Rev. C. E. Durham. At a 6 o'clock dinner Sunday even ing, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Snow had as their guests the Rev. and Mrs. J. A. Snow of Wingate, Prof and Mrs. R. Coma and John Henderson; Marshalls, Alton Cameron, Chief; Misses Julia Tucker and Isabel McKelthen and Hugh McPherson. Spence of Raleigh was appointed dele gate to the meeting of the American Osteopathic Association at New York City. The meeting was well attended from all parts of the state.
