Mrs. Turner Wiles of West End spent last week in Aberdeen visiting relatives while her husband was un dergoing treatment at the Moore County Hospital. Colin Bethune, U. 5. N., after spending a 30 days furlough with his parents has returned to his boat, the IT. S. S. Keywadin, in Norfolk, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Letlen and son of Hopewell, Va., spent the week-end in Aberdeen as gfuests of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Wicker, bringing with them home, Miss Elizabeth Wicker, who had been their guest for the past two months. On their return to Hope- well Miss Louise Wicker accompan ied them. Mrs. G. Monroe Ward and daughter, Miss Nellie, of Willard, are guests this week of Mrs. Ella J. Heckart. Miss Nancy Ruth David has com pleted her school year at the Ep- ivorth Orphanage in Columbia, S. C., and following her graduation is at home with her mother, Mrs. Mary Trueluck. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Rock and son, Gerald, of Wadsworth, Ohio, are the guest.s of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Low- hon. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. McDonald and daughter. Miss Frances Mcdlin, are enjoying a motor trip of two weeks to Tupelo, Miss., where they will visit relatives. Raymond McQueen, colored, was “just playing” with Bell White, so he said, but the gash he cut in her side required seventeen stitches and the judge gave him ten months on the reads in which to get over his playful mood. G. C. McCoy, white of Red Springs, paid a fine of $50 and the costs in a case in which he as charged with drunken, careless and reckless driv ing, and his thirty day sentence was suspended. He is not to drive again In 90 days. Cited to appear and show cause why the prosecution In the case of State versus Allen Cotman, colored, should not be declared frivolous and malicious and she be named prose cutor and taxed with the costs, Mrs. A. M. Burns, white of the Eagle Springs section, had prayer for judg ment conti. jed upon payment of the costs. She had charged Cotman with larcency of more than $200 from a chest belonging to her, and failed to appear against him when the case was called. Dan Cameron of Harnett county and Junius Hunter of Lee county, both white men, were In court charg ed with public drunkeness and Cam eron with drunken driving. They were given 30-day sentences suspended as to Hunter upon the payment' of a $10 fine and half the costs and as to Cam eron upon a $50 fine and the other half of the costs and he is not to drive for ninety days. Both men paid the fines and costs. Daniel Harris, colored, of Plnehurst, was charged with being drunk and disorderly and using profane language on the caddie grounds of the Pine, hurst Coimtry Club and entered a plea of guilty. He was given 60 days on the roads, or with the approval of the county comm.ssloners, at the county home, judgment to be suspend ed upon the payment of a fine of'5iO and the costs.
