Cheney and young daughters, Dorothy and Sally and Mrs- Harold Calloway and little daughter Sylvia returned this week after spending the summer at Sky Top, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Irving Raymond have returned from the north to their es tate near Eagle Springs. Mrs. Frances Nicoll of Carthage was the week-end guest of Miss Mil dred Petway at the Teacher’s Club. Mrs. Emerson Humphrey and little daughter Carol Sue spent a day last week with Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Byrd at Fort Bragg. Carol Sue stayed for a week's visit in her aunt’s home. Mr. ’and Mrs. Walter D. Hyatt and Mrs. Hyatt’s mother, Mrs. Cuuuing- ham, have returned from Rangeley Lake, Maine, where they passed the summer. Mrs. Hyatt, who is an avia tion enthusiast has recently received her license as an air pilot. Miss Lorena Montesanti left Sunday to enter a secretarial school in Wash ington, D. C- Miss Edna Gentry attended home coming at her alma mater, A. S. T. C., at Boone, last week-end. ! The Rev. and Mrs. A. J. McKelway, { with the Rev. and Mrs. A. V. Gibson I of Sanford motored to Davidson Sun day afternoon where Mr. Gibson con ducted vesper services for the David son College boys. A large part of the service consisted of numbers by the McKelway-Gibson quartette. They were guests of Dr. and Mrs. Walter L. Lingle. Miss Giace Rodman, for the past two years on the nursing staff nt the Moore County Hospital, has gone to Duke Hospital in the same capacity. Miss Eloise Summerford visited her family in Clover, S. C., over the week end- Myron Barrett has returned home after spending the summer at West port. N. Y. John Thomas of Greensboro was here several days this week, leasing a house for the winter. Miss May Chapman opened her Cottage School on Thursday with an unusually bright outlook for the year. The regular monthly meeting of the Pinehurst Parent-Teacher Asso ciation will be held next Wednesday afternoon in the school auditorium. Mrs. True P. Cheney, president, re turned from the north this week and will assume her duties at this meet ing. Mrs. George Dunn came Saturday and has opened Column Lodge for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. E- G. Fitzgerald, Eva Fitzgerald and Dolores Johnson spent Tuesday in Charlotte where the chil dren underwent eye treatment. Miss Lillian Moore and Miss Eu nice Gibson entertained at the Teach ers’ Club Friday night for Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Conant, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Swaringen, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Thomas.
