MISSING SINCE FSB. ]
Fort Brag:g officials this week re
ported that Sergeant James A. Dau
gherty, 51. quartermaster corps, has
been missing since February 1. Fear
that he has met with foul play
prompted them to appeal for co-op
eration of all law enforcement agen
cies in the Carolinas in an effort to
find a trace of the missing man.
Sergeant Daugherty is a veteran
soldier, entitled to retirement next
year on the completion of 30 years
service. He had been on duty at all
times since 1929.
Daugherty bears a marked resem
blance to Jimmy Durante, the stage
and screen star. He was last seen In
the company of an unnamed civilian,
sitting in his parked automobile, a
black Ford coach with red wheels.
Fort Bragg license 494. He bad about
$60 on his person.
The missing man is 5 feet 8 and
one half inches tall, weighs 151
pounds, and haa blue eyes, brown
hair tinged with gray, a ruddy com
plexion and bad front teeth.
