THE PILOT, Southern Pines and Aberdeen, North Carolina Page Sevea The Week in Vass “Chriatian Missions and World Health” was the program topic of the monthly meeting of the Vass Methodist Auxiliary, which was held on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. S. R. Smith. Under the leadership of Mrs, H. A, Borst, the following numbers were presented: Scripture lesson, Mrs. W. A. Smith; “Christian Missions and World Health,” Mrs. W. D. Mat thews; “Great Missionary .Doctors,’’ Mrs. W. H. Keith; “Christianity’s Gift to World Health, Mrs. G. W. riffin; Story, Mrs. C. L. Tyson. Mrs. W. A. Smith conducted the Bible study. Mrs. C. P. McMillan was en rolled as a member. A list of the clothing needs of the little boy at the orphanage whom the auxiliary sponsors was read, and it was decided to make a freewill of fering to purchase the clothing. During the social hour, a Bible contest was enjoyed, after which the hostess, assisted by Mrs. W. T. Cox and Mrs. H. A. Borst, served refresh ments. Seniors of the Vass-Lakeview High School enjoyed a sight-seeing trip to Raleigh a day last week, accompan ied by one of their teachers, Mrs. W. E. ladstone. Going by automobile, they reached the capital early enough to visit many places of interest, among them the State Hospital, the State Prison, WPTF, the museum and the News and Observer plant. They looked in upon the Legislature and found proceedings there most in teresting. Seniors enjoying the trip were Re becca Gardner, Gladys Causey, Rlby business which is operating under the name of the Apex Department Store. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Greens of Wil mington spent a part of last week in the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Ed wards. The Rev. C. I. Calcote and son, Billy, went to Richmond, Va., last Saturday and were accompanied home the same day by Mrs. Calcote and little daughter, Patricia, who had been in Richmond for several weeks. The Woman’s Club wponsored a benefit bridge party, celebrating Washington’s birthday, on Tuesday evening, February 23, at the home of the president, Mrs. J. Clyde Kelly. The spacious living room was pro fusely decorated with trailing and ther greens, interspersed with bowls of golden daffodils. Eight tables were n play. Prizes were donated by the business firms of Sanford, and the winners were: Grand-prize, Dr. C. N. Eckerson; high score, Mrs. Jewell Hemphill. Other winners were Prof. R. F.
