Upon motion of Frank Cameron,
seconded by L. R. Reynolds, the fol
lowing resolution was passed:
WHEREAS, under and by virtue of
Section 14 of Chapter 455, Public
Laws of North Carolina of 1935,
which Is Section 5780 (59) of the
North Carolina Code of 1935, it is
provided "Upon the request of
the school
governing authority In the city ad
ministrative unit, the tax levying au
thorities of such unit shall provide
for an election to be held under laws
governing such elections;” and where
as, the Pinehurst School District
Commitee has this day requested the
Board of Commissioners of Moore
County to call an election to be held
on April 22, 1937 within the school
area of the Pinehurst School District
administrative unit, for the purpose
of determining whether an additional
Lax of not exceeding fifteen (15)
cents on each One Hundred ($100.00)
Dollars valuation of property shall be
levied within said school area for the
purpose of providing a local supple
ment for the operation of the public
school within said school area, ac
cording to the request herein filed.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolv
ed:
1. That said election is ordered to
be held on the 22nd day of April,
1937 as requested, to astertain
whether there shall be levied in said
school district administrative unit a
local annual tax not to exceed fifteen
(15) cents on each One Hundred
($100.00) Dollars valuation of all
taxable property in said school dis
trict, both real and personal, to sup
plement the funds provided by exist
ing law for the eight months public
school term, and likewise provide for
an extended term of public school In
said district, not exceeding nine
months or one hundred and eighty
days during each year, and for the
purpose of operating schools in said
district of a higher standard than
provided for by State support aa pre
scribed by existing law.
2. That It Is further ordered that

4. At said election those in favor
of the levy of said tax in said school
district for the purpose hereinbefore
set forth shall vote a ticket on which
shall be printed or written the words,
“For Local Tax,” and those who op
pose the same shall vote on ticket
on which shall be printed or written
the words, “Against Local Tax.” At
the close of the said election the said
registrar and poll holders who held
said election shall count, canvas and
judicially determine the result of said
election and make return thereof to
the board of Commissioners of Moore
County. Said election hall in all re-
spectg be held In accot dance with the
law governing general elections. If
a majority of the qualified voters in
said district shall vote, "For Local
Tax,” a tax for the purpose hereinbe
fore described shall thereafter be lev
ied annually, as provided by law.
