Little Miss Lucille Klmore, with
her partners David Hartley and Wal
ter Anderson, will present a mu.sical
revue program at the Southern
Pines School Auditoiiiim Saturday
night at 8:15, the third night of
the Fall F’cstival series. She enter
tains with short shots of famous peo
ple, musical sketches, and surprise
j features. The entertainment is apon-
■ sored by the Chamber of Commerce
for its planting fund and tickets are
only 25 cents.
' Cousin to Fred Stone, of New
' York and the whole world. Miss El-
■ moie got her start with her famous
kinsman in “Stepping Stones.” Aud-
I iences everywhere have responded
I to her charm, vivacity, and clever-
! ness on the platform.
! She is also known as one of the
! finest women ventriloquist.'!, though
that plays only a minor part in her
: program. Music, costumes, imperso-'
' nations, revue mimbers-~-all com- ;
bine to make this a brand-new type ^
of entertainment on Festival pro- i
grair..s. Mi.ss Klmore hereself is very j
snail, standing les.s than five feet,
and her size makes possible many |
uniq'ie appearances. i
Asked foi' some of her most in-1
tercsting experiences, Miss Elmore |
said; "At Amityville. L. I., I was get- ,
ting my first horse-back riding in- j
structions from Fred Stone and Will ;
Rogers, on Fred Stone's ranch, |
through the medium of a high strung i
spotted pony once owned by Douglas ^
Fairbanks, who used by him in sev- |
eral of his pictures. Will Rogers
nicknamed me ‘Topeka’ for my bir
thplace - said any actor who ever I
played there would remember it as
the town where they yawned and
his-xd at the same time. Anyway, ,
the pony got the best of me, and
started to run away, with the others |
in full chase as soon as they real- j
ized I was in trouble. But all Will I
Feemed able to do was to yell at |
me. “Hold 'er, Topeka, hold ’er” And I
clcver Miss Elmore has been holding i
auciirnces ever since. '
