THE PILOT, Southern Pines and Aberdeen, North Carolina Page Seven The Week in Aberdeen Kook Club Entertained The members of the Junior Womans Book Club entertained the members of the Walter Hines Page Book Club at the home of Miss Alice Wilder on last Friday evening with an in teresting program on the American Indian, 11 members of each club be ing present. Mrs. Jack Clark's paper was presented by Mrs. J. B. Ed wards, while Mrs. Victor Tyler gave a paper from the Walter Hines Page Book Club. An enjoyable social hour followed the meeting. Grade Mothers Entertain The Grade Mothers of the Aber deen High School Senior class en tertained them with a delightful dance at the Community House on last Friday evening. PersonalH Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Kirkman and Mias Julia McNairy of Greensboro were guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Pleasants last Saturday, while attending the Steeplechase races in Southern Pines. Mrs. Murdoch Johnson and son, Jimmie, of Camden, S. C., were guests of Mr. and Mrs. I. A. Thomp son over the week-end. Mrs. f. J. Chester is making a sat isfactory recovery from the Injur ies she received in an automobile wreck last Sunday night. M. Folley, who has been gravely ill at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. L. Wrenn in Siler City, is some what improved at this writing. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Chandler and Miss Nancy Wimberly of Greens boro were guests of their mother, Mrs. Julia Wimberly, last Sunday. Miss Miriam Johnson of Atlanta, Ga., spent the past week-end in Aberdeen visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Talbot Johnson. David MlcGraw of Pittsburgh, Pa., with his brother-in-law, Leighton Shock of ^Philadelphia, Pa., have been guests of their mother, Mrs. Thom as H. McGraw, at the Cherokee Farm for the past week. Miss Frances Wimberly, a member of the Senior class at Flora Macdon ald College, Red Springs, has been chosen an attendant of the May Queen in the May exercises there. Howard Russell of Statesville is spending a few days this week in town visiting his mother, Mrs. S. E. Sloan. Mrs. E. L. Barber has been con fined to her home. The Presbyterian Man-se. for the past week with in fluenza. Miss Lida Duke Blue, of the Mar jorie Webster School, Washington, D. C., spent the past week-end at home. Miss Mabel Bethune, a student nurse at the Thompson Memorial Hospital in Luniberton, was home last Sunday. The Misses Rebecca and Dorothy Doub, students at the Greensboro College, spent the Spring holidays with their parents here. W. A. Leland McKeithen was giv en a birthday party by Miss Janet W’iggins at the Dunes Club last Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Johnson, who are blind, furnished special music at the Methodist Church last Sunday evening, and were guests of the Rev. and Mrs. S. J. Starnes during their stay here. Miss Margaret McLeod of Flora Macdonald College, visited her par ents over the past week-end. Miss Vanessa McLean has been confined to her home for the past w’eek with influenza. Miss Hazel Harrelson, of Columbia. S. C., is the guest of Miss Elizabeth David this week. Henry Wilder, of State College, ia home for the Spring holidays. ML'S Katharyn Charles of Flora Macdonald College spent the past week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Charles. Mr. and Mrs. James Buchanan of Broadway spent last Sunday in Aber deen, visiting Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Mc Lean. Miss Annie Nunnery of Raleigh was the guest of her sister, Mrs. H. Clif ton Blue, last Sunday. J. A. Lawrence has returned from Chillicothe, Ohio, where he went to take some prisoners. NIAGARA Last Sunday the children and grandchildren of Mrs. C. J. Morgan gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Snipes in celebration of Mrs. MJorgan’s 76th birthday. The dinner table fairly groaned with good things to eat. Relatives from out of town were Miss Elizabeth Morgan of Pittsboro, R. W. Morgan of Chap el Hill and J. S. Morgan of Carboro, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Duggin and son, Jimmie, left Thursday for New Jer sey. where they will spend the sum mer. R. B. Smith of Raleigh, who is just recovering from an operation, spent several days here last week with relatives. Freeman Harrison of Orange, N. J., spent the week-end With his cousin. Miss M. A Williams of this place. John King of Sanford is visiting his aunt, Mrs. W. D. Monroe. G. H. Colby was In Rockingham one day last week on business. Miss Mary Condit and nieces. Misses Hattie Mae and Gussle. Con dit of New Jersey are visiting Miss Nettle Williams. B. F. Hudson of Savannah, Ga., is visiting his sister, Mrs. J. W. Frank. Mrs. B. C. Morgan was shopping in Rockingham Friday. Miss Nell Simons, Bible teacher, will be at the Niagara church Sunday evening at 7:30 o’clock. Memorial services will be held at the Niagara Congregational Church Sunday morning, March 26, at 11:00 o’clock for the late Rev. Samuel Holden, who was the founder of our village church and was present at the dedication 30 years ago.
