Be he interested iji show hor.'^es, polo, hiintinjT, steeplechase, flat racing, or trotters and pacers, the local scene has something to offer. Sunday afternoon will see the first big polo game of the sea son in Pinehiirst, in fact the first important polo contest here in many years. The revival of polo is one of the features of the local 1039-1940 season. It used to be great fun in “the good old days” before depres sion to witness the matches on the smooth greenswards of Pine- hurst on Sunday afternoons, and a good start has been made on returning this fixture to the seasonal card. Lovers of show horses, includ ing hunters and jumpers, will have their innings next Friday afternoon at the Southern Pines Country Chib show ring, the oc casion being the tirst annual Spring Horse Show. Fourteen classes, varied in interest, sire on the program, and the entries include the finest from the many stables wintering here. And the annual Steeplechase race meet is now but three weeks off, that biggest day of the years in the Sandhills when thousands surround the pictur esque Barber Estate course on Cu^iOuS RAli.’iOAO 'f/vez/vf" TBI6D OUT IN THE EAHtV OAVS OF THE 8JO WAS THlS'ENeiNE’WHlCM Pulled a stHino Of CARS BV means Of A mnse walkins _ ON A TKBADmUL.
