Perkinson and daughter, Ann, left Friday for Hen dersonville to visit Mrs. Perkinson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whit aker. Miss Adeline Wenger of Philadel phia, Pa., is visiting her sister-in-law, Mrs. John Wenger. Staff Sgt. A. C. Dickerson of Fort Bragg visited Miss Lula Belle Med ford last week-end. Miss Ruby Hall and her mother, Mrs. Reid Hall are spending a few days at Myrtle Beach. Mrs. R. E. Wiley has returned from Asheboro where sh<4 visited Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Schaeffer. Mr. and Mr.s. C. L. Worsham and children have gone to Petersburg, Va., where they will spend two weeks vis iting relatives. Miss Leone Currie will return Fri day from Holly Springs where she has been the guest of Miss Lillian Johnson. Misses Peggy Broom and Catherine Prizer are visiting Miss Alice Gregson in Baltimore. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Maples are re turning this week from a month’s va cation in Banner Elk. Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Washington of Fredericksburg, Va., are the house guests of Captain and Mrs. Alan In- nes-Taylor. The party returned Wed nesday from Southport where they spent several days fishing. Miss Martha Cline of Salisbury was the house guest of Miss Caroline Backer last week. They both left here Sunday to join a house party at Mur rell’s Inlet and will be there for a week. Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Woodward and granddaughter returned Tuesday from 8 two-week trip touring Florida. Misses Birdilia Bair, Katherine Wil ey, Erma Fisher and Eleanor Bar ron and Mrs. Clarence Edson return ed Monday from a week spent at Myr tle Beach. Miss Clyde Stewart arrived Sunday from Des Moines, Iowa to spend a week or ten days visiting her sister, Mrs. Ada K. Weaver. After visiting Mr. and Mrs. Arch Coleman for a week's stay, Mrs. Hel en Jordan Cowin and two sons, John and Peter, and Mrs. Arch Coleman, Jr., and son. Arch II, departed for their home in Birminghi^ v Ala., Thursday. On Tuesday evening, Mrs. Arthu- Olmstead entertained at dinner at the Skyline honoring her daughter-in- law, Mrs. Arthur Olmstead, Jr., and seven other guests shared honors. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Blue have re cently visited Silver Springs. Fla. Mrs. Gertrude Gardiner Wilson of Ridge Street returned Saturday from a four day trip to Manteo where she attended The Lost Colony. Mrs. Wil son was enthusiastic about the pag eant. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene C. Stevens have just returned from a trip to Lin- ville, N. C. Dr. James W. Silver of Oxford, Miss., professor at the University of Mississippi, his wife and young son, Billy, are visiting his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Silver at her home here.
