Friday, November 21, 1941. THE PILOT, Southern Pines, North Carolina rage SeTM EUREKA John A. McLeod, patriarch of our community, received a visit from Carl Qoerch, editor of The Stale, last week. Mr. McLeod is of interest be cause he is one of the few people living whose father fought in the Revolution. Mr. McLeod is active for his almost PO years, is seldom absent from church, and goes to Carthage quite often. He is a substantial farmer and, until recently, took active part in the work of the farm. He and Mr.^. McLeod have several sons and dau ghters and each one is filing the "comer where they are” very credit ably. W. M. McLeod and Carey are prosperous farmers in our commun ity. Carey and his famly live in the McLeod homestead. R. A. McLeod, oldest son, was president of Maxton College at the tlm*- of his death a few years ago. Mr. and Mrs. McLeod have a host of fine grandchildren and are interested in the other young people of the community. LEGAL NOTICES Several young people, with their advisers, Mrs. A. L. Blue and Mrs. C. C. King, went to the home of Misses Kate and Effie flay and san? for them Sunday afternoon. The "Ray Ladies” have been living in our community for a number of years. Before coming here, they owned a home in what is now Fort Bragg Res ervation. When the government bought their home, they purchased a small tract of land and built near Mrs. Sallie Ray’s. At that time, there were four el derly maiden sisters. Miss Jane pass ed away a few years ago and Miss Maggie followed several months la ter. Miss Kate and Miss Elffio are well up in their eighties and enjoy having company and take great in terest in their frends |(ind neigh- bocs. There was a meeting of the P. T. A. at the school last Monday even ing. Grade mothers have been ap pointed and much constructive work is expectcd. On last Friday afternoon.
