Annie Maude Hardy. Janet Rosser and Margaret Louise Kelly sang two selections and Faye Corbett gave a clever reading. Refreshments of sandwiches, pick les, homemade cake and coffee were served. Mr. and Mrs. Gladstone sang a special number at the Presbyterin,n church service Sunday morning, which was greatly enjoyed W. D. McGill of Fort Bragg, who had been on maneuvers for the past while, spent the week-end at the home of his parents here. Mrs. McGill, who had been in Claremont for sev eral weeks on account of the illness of her mother, joined him here Sun day. Bdwaid Gschwind of Burlington spent the week-end at home. Mrs. W. T. Cox, Mrs. Charles Gschwind, Mrs W. P. Parker, Mrs. W. H. Keith, Miss Glennie Keith of Raleigh, Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Thomp son, and Corp. Russell Thomp.son of Fort Bragg were Sunday callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Thompson on Cameron Route 1. Mrs. Thompson has been ill for several weeks, but greatly enjoys having her friends call. CARTHAGE Mr. and Mrs. VV'. H. Currie spent a few days last week in Philadelphia vis iting Mrs. Currie's brother, John Woltz. Harold Williamson, of Darien, Conn., and Miss Rozelle Williamson, of Raleigh, spent the week-end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Williamson. Mrs, John S. Leach of Wilson spent several days with Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Adams. Mrs. J. L. Currie and Miss Mary Currie spent the week-end with Dn and Mrs. William Currie, of Belmont. Mrs. Chas. T. Grier spent Friday in Greensboro visiting Mr. and Mrs. George Graves. Mrs. I. N. Clegg left Saturday to spend this week-end in Salisbury vis iting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Murphy. Mrs. C. B. Mr. and Mrs. Temple Dalrymple and daughter, of New York City, re turned home Thursday after visiting Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Dalrymule. Mrs. E. A. Waltz, of Raleigh, spent last week with her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Currie. Mrs, Jessie McNeill, of Raleigh, spent the week-end with her daught er, Eleanor, and Mrs. W. H. McNeill. A beauty and popularity contest was held Friday evening in the High School auditorium sponsored by the P. T. A. Miss Ida Cameron Willcox, daughter of John Willcox, won first place for H. S. girls and Mary Epps Wallace, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Wallace won second place. Quite a nice sum was received for the P. T. A. budget.
