’or Missing Negro
County and town officials contin
ued this week their search for Dan
Luther McLeod, 'Negro employe of
the town of Southern Pines, who has
not been seen nor heard of since
Sunday afternoon, November 22. A
reward of $150 is being offered for
information leading to his where
abouts.
The last trace which officers have
of McLeod is that he left Fred Ar
nett’s house on the old Pinehurst-
Southern Pines road late Sunday
evening, headed for his home in
West Southern Pines! He has not
since been seen. A search of the
woods in that section failed to lend
any clue to his whereabouts. As far
as is known, McLeod had no money
on his person. Officers said that ev
idence indicated he had been drink
ing during the day. The missing, man
is five feet, 10 inches tall, weighs 152
pounds, is 54 years of age and has
gray hair. He was clad in tan shoes,
dark trousers, brown woolen shirt
and dark grey Ilat. Anyone knowing
information about him is asked to
get in touch with Sheriff C. J. Mc
Donald or Chief C. E. Newton.

The fifth and sixth grade room is
proud to say that the whole Gram
mar school has a hundred percent
ownership in war bonds and stamps.
They think it is the least any child
can do to help win the war. They
are out to help Uncle Sam to make
guns, planes, and tanks so our men
will come home soon. Buy stamps
and bonds.
The sixth grade had 100 percent in
buying Red Cross seals. We have
brought $3.25 worth of Tuberculosis
seals. All 30 of the pupils have War
Savings Stamps and eight have War
bonds.
