RECEIVES WINGS Lt. Paul P. McCain has received his wings at Navigator's School, Sel man Field, Monroe, La., and is spending a few days' leave with his parents, Dr. and Mrs. P. P- McCain, at Sanatorium while awaiting fur ther assignment. PASSES EXAMINATION Lewis W. Pate, son of Mr- and Mrs. Ed Pate of Southern Pines, has passed his examinations for aviation cadet training and now is enlisted in the Army Air Corps Reserve, sub ject to call when he reaches his eighteenth birthday. ATTENDS COMMISSIONING Ensign Richard B. Pethick flew to Boston from Providence, R. 1., to attend the commissioning of the car rier to which he has been assigned- His wife, the former Miss Rebecca N'eal, was present for the ceremony, which was attended by many nota bles, including Mrs- Franklin D. VISITS WIFE Capt. Eveleth Richardson, who was transferred last week from Camp Gordon Johnson, Fla-, to Fort Jackson, S. C., arrived Saturday for a week's visit with his wife, the former Miss Etta Mac Cameron, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J- Bruce Cameron, at Manly. VISIT NEAR VASS Pvt. Tommy Richardson of Sey mour Johnson Field, Goldsboro, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Richardson, at their home near Vass. With him was a friend. Pvt. E. C.
