Cheney motored to Greensboro Thursday and Misses Dorothy Wescott, Nancy Camp bell and Dorothy Cheney of Pine- hurst and Miss Manta Guion of Aberdeen accompanied them home from W.C.,tJ.N.C., for the holidays. Mr- and Mrs. Norwood Johnston have come from Pittsburgh to their winter home. Cotton Cottage on Beulah Hill Road. SGT. EWELL E. GLASS GETS HONORABLE DISCHARGE Sgt. Ewell E. Glass of Carthage received an honorable discharge at Fort Bragg a few days ago, af- , ter serving two years in the Eu- i ropean theatre. He and his wife, ‘ the former Miss Ruby Lee Cad-; dell, are visiting relatives in Al abama and Florida. Upon their ; return, Mr. Glass will resume his work in the post office at Fort Bragg, where he was employed prior to entering the Army 45 months ago. GROWING PAINS “I look upon the U. Hueftlein is now under lease to D. B. Brown and family. Capt. Hueftlein has returned from duty and joined Mrs. Hueftlein and daughter at their Wellesley apartments. Horace Kelly, Sr., recently dis charged from the army, with Mrs- Kelly arrived Sunday for a visit with his parents, Mr- and Mrs. H. Foster Kelly. Horace, Jr., has been here for several months. Fred Fields arrived by plane and car from overseas duty Sat urday night to join his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Fields after an 18 months’ absence. He has receiv ed his discharge from the Sea- bees and assures friends who call to welcome his return that he is mighty happy to get home. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Currie and sons of Whiteville spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs- Arch M. Cur rie- Bill recently returned from Alaska and was released from the Army. Mr. and Mrs. J. Tyler Smith of Baltimore have returned for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Phillips are spending the holidays in New York with her mother, Mrs. Jos eph Becker. William T. McCullough was host to a number of friends at his birthday party at the Berkshire Saturday evening. Mrs. J- Potter Stockton is spend ing the holidays in New York. Miss Betty Wyche who has been stationed with the American Red Cross at Corcoran Field, Macon, is visiting her grandmother, Mrs- George Dunn. Miss Wyche will report to Base Hospital, Orlando, Fla., January 3rd. Commander Richard Pippith and family of Philadelphia are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donald J. Ross at Dornoch cottage. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Adams of Summerville, N- J., have arrived in Pinehurst for a visit. Lieut- and Mrs. James R. Wick er of Albany, Ga., arrived Fri day night to spend Christmas with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rassie Wicker and Mr. and Mrs. Bjnron U. Richardson. C. B. Fownes has returned from Oakmont, Pa., to spend the seas on at his Pinehurst home on Vil lage Green East- Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Robinson Cook entertained for dinner and bridge at Mid-Pines. Thomas R- Rudel and family of Roslyn, L. I., are guests of Mrs. Clarance Ruel at Twin Cedars for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Fuller have been vacationing in Florida for a few days. Capt. and Mrs. Alec T- Roberts of Old Greenwich and her daughter, Joan Johnston of Dana Hall, Wel lesley, Mass., and son. Gray Johnston of Chaote School are spending the holidays together in Pinehurst. T|5 Lanie E. Garner, son of Mr- and Mrs. Adam Garner has been discharged from the army and has returned home after serving overseas in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany for 32 months. Mr. and Mrs. James Morris of Gastonia were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Pinion last week. Verland Smith received his dis charge at Fort Bragg December! 12th and is a Pinehurst citizen' again- He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Guthrie Smith. Another son, j Lloyd, landed at San Diego the day Verland was discharged, and expects to join his famliy here; within two weeks. j Guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. j Frederick Lesh for the week-end were Fred Lesh, Jr., Dennis Walk-' er and Ted Boston of England.
