Fields of Aber- Crowd Hears Mrs. Macey A crowd which practically fill ed the Vass Presbyterian Church Sunday evening heard Mrs. Su san Macey of Aberdeen, a mis sionary back from service in Por tugese East Africa, tell of the “ashes” in the life of the African that need to be changed to “beau ty”. Mrs. Macey held the rapt atten tion of young and old in the con gregation as she told of the phy sical and spiritual life of the peo ple whom she had served, and re lated many interesting incidents connected with her work. The meeting was sponsored by the Presbyterian Auxiliary, with women’s organizations of the other churches cooperating. Mrs. M. M. Chappell presided. Others who had brief parts in the ser vice were Mrs. M. L. Stevenson, Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Wilson, Mrs. G. M. McDermott, Mrs. S. R. Smith, the Rev. C. M. Voyles, and Mrs. W. E. Gladstone. Marine arrived last Friday for a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Edwards. He had re cently returned from France and Belgium. Max’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Bundy, also Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bundy and children, all of Raleigh, came down to see him Saturday. Max Alexander, a local boy who is attending school at Oak Ridge, spent the weekend with Max. Mr. and Mrs. George Abernathy and family of Chapel Hill visited Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Abernathy Sunday afternoon. Mrs. W. H. Keith returned Sun day from a 10-day visit with her ycjung granddaughters at Wal lace. She stayed with the little girls. Merle and Patsy, while their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Mallard, and Mr. and Mrs. N. Vick Keith of Sanford went to Flor ida. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Reynolds and family and Mr. and Mrs. Claud Campbell and family at tended a revival service at Rob bins Sunday night. T-Sgt.
