President Virgil Clark explained that the Boy Scouts were going to be sponsored by the club and stress ed just what that responsibility meant for each member. The speaker for the luncheon, Mr. Boyer the Scout Executive for this district, briefly outlined the Scout organization. Following this the members entered into a question and answer period. The Rotarians eagerly joined into this session ai^d asked many questions is to the duties of the Troop Committee, responsibilities of sponsorship and the nitmber of Scout Troops advisible for this section. Utilizing the leadership of the present troop they decided to have one troop for the present time. The Scout Hut also came up for discussion and the mem bers decided to make the neces sary repairs to the Hut and have it ready for use in a few weeks. The meeting adjourned with all members pledging to give their full support to the local troop. Visiting Rotarians were Frank Thomas, Hastings-on-Hudson, N. Y.; Bob Gray, Sanford and Col. T. W. The Moore County school chil dren are helping the President’s famine emergency committee this month, in the form of a famine relief “checklist” issued by the American Red Cross. Through the schools the Red Cross will distribute a six-point guide for saving Wheat, cereals, and fats, and eliminating food wastage, Colonel George P. Hawes, Jr., chairman of the Moore County Chapter, said here today'. He added that H. Lee Thomias, county superintendent of schools, Philip Weaver, super intendent of Southern Pines schools, and J. B. Harbison, su perintendent of Pinehurst school, are cooperating whole heartedly in this program.
