May 25. The bride attended Vass-
Lakeview High School. Mr. Key
served in' the Navy and recently
received his honorable discharge.
At present they are at home with
the bridegroom’s parents in Vass.

tal. The baby weighed seven
pounds and thirteen ounces. Be

at the Methodist Church Sunday
morning at 11 o’clock. The doors

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Jones and
daughter, Lucille, of High Point
were weekend guests in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Foster.
Mrs. Oakley, who has been
quite ill recently, went to Carth
age several days ago to visit rela
tives, and since going up there
has had another attack. She is
the mother of Mrs. Earl Goodman
of Vass.
C. L. Tyson was one of the
many who were stranded in New
York when the railroad strike
went into effect last week. He
came back Saturday by plane to
Charlotte and N. N. McLean met
him there.
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Mallard and
Miss Myrtle Mallard of Wallace
visited Mrs. W. H. Keith a short
while Sunday. They came to
bring Merle and Patsy Mallard to
spend a week with their grand
mother. Mrs. Mallard will attend
the meeting of the State Federa
tion of Women’s Clubs at Greens
boro this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Edwards
and little daughter, Linda, went
to Raleigh Saturday, and Mrs. A.
G. Edwards, who had been there
for several days on account of the
illness of her mother, Mrs. J. S.
Bundy, returned home with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Griffin and
children, and Mr. and Mrs. Guy
Gordon of Lakeview enjoyed a
trip to Hillsboro and Bluefield, W.
Va., leaving Friday and returning
Sunday. While they were away
Miss Phyllis Hayes, daughter of
Mrs. Gordon, was the guest of
Miss Ann Fields. •
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Callahan
have returned to their home after
spending some time with Mr. and
Mrs. H. C. Callahan on account
of the latter’s illness. Mrs. Calla
han is now much improved.
Recent visitors to Durham to
see Henry A. Borst, Jr., a patient
at Watts Hospital, were Mr. and
Mrs. H. A. Borst, Mr. and Mrs.
S. R. Smith and Mrs C. L Tyson.
Henry is getting along well.
Mr, and Mrs. Clyde S. Thomp
son of Charleston, S. C., called
on many friends and relatives in
sister, Mrs, Jim McCiaskill> at
Pinehurst Sunday. While he was
there, Mrs. McCaskill fell on the
steps and wrenched an ankle.
